We don’t have hours for self-care. But micro-habits add up to big shifts in stress levels.
We think stress relief has to be time-consuming, making it another thing on our to-do list.
- Body check-ins: Unclench your jaw, soften your shoulders right now. Do this several times a day.
- Breathe on purpose: 3 deep, slow breaths resets your nervous system surprisingly well.
- Change your scenery: Step outside, even for 2 minutes, the shift in perspective helps.
- Gratitude interrupt: When you feel spiraling, force yourself to think of ONE thing going well.
- Nature dose: Plants in your office, a walk at lunch, watching birds out the window…all proven stress reducers.
- ‘Brain dump” when overwhelmed: Scribble all the swirling thoughts on paper to get them out of your head.
