It takes consistent effort to build trust, but just one shady move to shatter it. Choose your actions wisely.

We get impatient, wanting a shortcut to seeming trustworthy, instead of putting in the slow, steady work.

  • Clear expectations prevent disaster: Be upfront about timelines, deliverables, what’s NOT included…saves so much hassle.
  • Underpromise, overdeliver: Little surprise upgrades or going the extra mile build fierce customer loyalty long-term.
  • Boundaries protect your business: Saying “yes” to clients who are a bad fit leads to resentment, which spills into the work.
  • Transparency is key: If a delay happens, communicate ASAP. Don’t ghost, hoping it’ll resolve itself.
  • Don’t be afraid to fire bad clients: Shows you respect both yourself AND the kind of people you want to attract.
  • Your reputation is EVERYTHING: One bad review spreads faster than 10 good ones, especially in a tight niche.

What’s one thing you could do to make your clients feel even more valued and trusting of you?

Is there a conversation you’re putting off (refund request, project delay, etc.)? The longer you wait, the harder it gets!
