Think Global, Act Local (or Vice Versa)
Having a global mindset doesn’t mean you have to abandon what makes your business unique to your location. Often, it’s the perfect differentiator!
We assume to appeal to a wider market, we have to become generic. Actually, the opposite is often true.
- Hyperlocal as a selling point: Handcrafted with ingredients sourced nearby, etc., has major appeal to certain buyers
- Global reach for local biz: Can you teach your craft virtually, ship your product, etc., expanding without relocating?
- Niching down unlocks global potential: The more specific your ideal client, the less your physical location matters to them.
- Partnerships open doors: Teaming up with someone based elsewhere gives you instant access to their market.
- Become THE expert on your region: This attracts media, tourism dollars, etc., that a “generic” business never could.
- Translate content thoughtfully: Simply running your website through Google Translate won’t cut it. Nuance matters!
Is there an aspect of your local community you could weave into your branding more?
Do a quick search for businesses similar to yours in a very different country. What surprises you?
