Don’t Be Fooled! Critical Thinking for Smarter Decisions
Ever jumped on a trend, sure it was THE answer, then watched it fizzle out? Critical thinking saves you from costly mistakes.
We’re bombarded with information, and the loudest voices aren’t always the most accurate. Bad decisions follow.
- Question EVERYTHING: Including your own assumptions, that’s where blind spots hide.
- Consider the source: Is it biased, reputable, incentivized, credible? This colors ALL information.
- Look for hidden agendas: What does someone gain by you believing a certain thing?
- Correlation ≠ causation: Just because two things happened near each other doesn’t mean one caused the other.
- Beware of shiny object syndrome: The newest tactic/tool isn’t inherently better than what you’re doing.
- Separate emotion from logic: Fear, excitement, FOMO – these cloud your critical thinking abilities.
What’s a decision you now regret because you didn’t think critically at the time?
Before you share that news article / retweet that hot take, do 5 minutes of research on the source.
